Once You've found the home you wish to buy, submit your OTP to betterbond so that we can secure you the best possible deal on your home loan.
As part of this service, we will request that the bond registration amount be loaded with an additional amount to cover your solar installation.
Once approved, you will be able to obtain a individualised quote for your solar deal that aligns with your bank approval from the Hohm Energy team.
Upon registration of your bond, your funds will be paid out, either to you or to your solar provider, depending on which bond option you have selected. Once Hohm receives payment confirmation schedule your installation and viola say goodbye to loadshedding.

Your finance approval will be subject to the bank's normal affordability and credit assesment criteria. Your bond remains our number 1 priority.
If your bond with solar costs get declined, we will resubmit your application without the
cost of solar to secure you the best possible bond. This does not stop you from exploring alternative means to finance your solar installation outside of your bond.

Financing through your bond is more affordable than financing through a personal loan - interest rate and loan term makes this more feasible.

Some of the banks are now offering specialised solar home loans where they will add solar finance to the registration value. Based on the LTV you're lookin for
- we will submit to the banks to try and secure the best possible bond at the most affordable rate for you, including an amount for solar finance. We will consider your specific
requirement and apply to the banks for the bond option that is best suited to your situation. (FNB solar/ Standard Bank future use/ordinary home loans with LTV 85%)

Your solar system will increase your property value as solar is a highly valued asset to mitigate the inconvenience of load shedding. It will also make your property more marketable due to lower electricity running costs for any prospective buyer.

Depending on the complexity of your solar solution, it can cost anything from 60,000 up to 300,000.
BetterBond's assistance with home finance is currently limited to solutions of at least R90,000 and for inclusion in new bonds only.
But remember, the beauty of solar is that you do not have to go completely off grid on day one. You can curate your solation according
to your needs and affordability and build on it over time if you so choose.

Depending on the complexity of your installation, lead times from order to switch-on can be anything between 1 to 12 weeks.

Once integrated into your electrical network - it will work seamlessly for ultimate convenience.
That said, you can turn it off and on at the inverter and breaker, however, this should be done by a certified electrician and solar technician.
